It’s voyage and a passage: those large ships crossing the ocean, full of giant boxes of red and blue and yellow and brown, their inventory unbeknownst, their inventory mysterious but bound to a new land, where they will be given freely or sold to the inhabitants of another country. It’s full of romance in the New World, in today modern age.
It is shipping. And they are containers.
The global shipping still encompasses a great deal of the global economy. While the selling of services, either online or in person, plays a large role in the global economy, manufacturing in different countries and the shipping of goods still amounts to billions of dollars each year.
Without shipping, companies would be forced to sell their products solely within countries, a process that has not occurred for centuries. (more…)
